Stringybark Road, Buderim, sunshine coast
We were approached by a client in late 2016 for suggestions to revamp the unattractive pool area. The brief was to make the area inviting and useable, whilst maintaining a natural element. The backdrop to the pool area was natural rainforest so the first thing that came to mind was waterfalls and streams.
We installed two pondless waterfalls, complete with lighting, which really adds another element to the landscape at night. The weathered basalt boulders used in the construction provide a natural look and the placement of basalt columns along with groupings of dishy boulders help to give definition to each area.
Over 100m2 of sawn sandstone was meticulously cut and laid as crazy pave surrounds in the pool area. The timber deck between the crazy pave and concrete sleeper steps blends in seamlessly and provides a perfect viewing point for both waterfalls as well as access to the rainforest walking tracks.
A stone firepit was installed complete with breathers to draw in fresh air, thus reducing excessive smoke. Large sandstone blocks were used to frame the fire pit and provide informal seating.
Overall, the before and after photos really speak for themselves. The transformation is truly remarkable and has created a timeless outdoor living space.
